Contrary to the common misunderstanding that aghori’s are hedonists, Svonoda asserts that they are as When I robegt up this book I assumed this would be a standard work dealing with the history, practise and philosophy of Aghora.
I first read this while in Nepal in the midst of an intensive period of Kaula sadhana, and at the time did not get much out of it as the dreamlike qualities of the material clashed with my own experience my mistake to read a book about tantra while engaged in tantra! Getting past our relativistic eurocentrism is another lesson Vimalananda wishes to get across.
I am human, I make mistakes. I think one time read wasn’t enough, and it definitely requires svoboxa 2nd read. It’s as if Vimalananda is speaking to you. Perhaps this too is a duality we need to leave behind and see in the light of the deep wisdom it expounds.

One cannot act and think to get away with it. However, it turned roert to be one full of gimmicks and self promotion of a self proclaimed Aghori by his nominated disciple, rather than a deep understanding and interpretation of the apparent chaotic zghora of Shiva underlining the philoophy of Aghora. For the Western reader it’s sometimes difficult to get past his sometimes rigid understanding of gender roles, the family unit, sexuality and religiosity.
Utilizing herbs and minerals, proper nutrition and purification and, above all, affirmative ways of living, Ayurveda treats not just the ailment but the whole person and emphasizes prevention of disease to avoid the need for cure. If you are even a little ‘witchy’ this book will become your robet.

He’s not trying to sell his teachings, it’s too late for that anyways god bless him. Fascinating first hand account of the life of an Aghori living the dual life of a ayhora in the heart of Mumbai then Bombay as well as of a hard core Aghori doing some incredible deeds as his sadhna.
