Aug 08, Feminista rated it it was ok Shelves: Kiernan disappointed me so very much in this book.
She is anti-slavery, but still deathly loyal to the Confederates. Her reasoning, what I gathered was that, Yankees have no right to take away their choice. What I mean to say is that, she thinks the Southern states should be given a choice to stop sl Rating: What I mean to say is that, she thinks the Southern states should be given a choice to stop slavery. But what about the rights of people who are enslaved?
Where is their choice? She also argues that they will eventually stop it. It should have been stopped the day it began.
Although nothing much of my knowledge on that war has changed since when I read the second book, I found it impossible to excuse such reasoning even though there were holes in my knowledge. But he waits for her for years. She is worried that she will hurt him, what about when he finds out that she loves someone else after the years he has waited.
I just found that really selfish. View all 11 comments.
View all 4 comments.
Apr 09, Pikolina rated it liked it. Creo que el final es demasiado precipitado, no les he visto mas que discutir y pocas veces hablar en serio, pero aun asi es un libro que amantew la pena leer. Sep 14, Jenny Q rated it really liked it Shelves: This novel of the Civil War is the first in a trilogy about the Camerons, a wealthy Virginia plantation family who find their loyalties divided when the Civil War breaks out.
Most of this novel is told from the point of view of Kiernan Mackay, the spirited and beautiful neighbor of the Camerons who has loved the oldest Cameron brother, Jesse, for most of her life. Time and circumstances finally collaborate to get this couple together, but their bliss is short-lived when their beloved Virginia secedes from the Union and the lovers find themselves on opposite sides of the divide and neither is willing to compromise on their convictions. Jesse, an army surgeon, rides off to the North, leaving Kiernan behind in the little town of Harper’s Ferry, which is about to find itself in the middle of a tug-of-war between the Amabtes and the Confederacy.
But war has a way of tearing people apart and throwing them back together in dramatic fashion, and as the bloody conflict rages on, Kiernan and Jesse begin to question their ideals, their loyalities, and their feelings for each other.
This novel borderlines on being a bodice-ripper and it is a bit on the melodramatic side, but it’s delicious and well-researched and I couldn’t put it down. I’ve already put the next book in the trilogy on my wishlist. On a side note, another reason I enjoyed enemigoss novel so much is that I’ve visited Harper’s Ferry in my travels and really liked the little town and I thought the author did a great job of recreating it in her novel.

One Wore Blue
I like reading late at night and don’t like images of Civil War battles in the forefront of my thoughts as I go to sleep. But I stuck with it and it turned out to be a really good love story. Kiernan is a Southern Belle who has grown up with Jesse Cameron and his family in a neighboring Virginia plantation. As war breaks out, Jesse sides with the Union and against the rest of his family and Kiernan.
But she never stops loving him and the I wasn’t sure when I began this book how I felt about it. But she never stops loving him and the war doesn’t destroy that.
One Wore Blue by Heather Graham
It’s a bit complicated but it has a very nice but unfinished HEA. Ella ammantes arruina toda la historia! Pero ella, ella es insoportablemente inmadura, obtusa y caprichosa hasta el final del libro. Jul 22, Jewel rated it liked it Shelves: I might have enjoyed the historical details a little bit more than the romance since that was a bit typical.

I have read a few Civil war fiction before, but I might have forgotten the details, because I think I learned a few new things about it. The two main characters were very typical but well written, although that strong and independent and a little spoiled southern heroine has been done before, Kiernan comes off as a bit annoying to me at times, I found myself thinking a An entertaining read.

Unfortunately for the book I have read another one with a the main character as a doctor during the civil war, one that gave lots more details on the subject. I feel like I’m being a bit harsh since I did enjoy reading it, and I actually want to read t other two in the series. A bit of a warning though for those NOT interested in the history, there is lots of it. I really enjoyed this one– it’s made it onto my favorites shelf and the hero made it gragam my Harem of Men: That is Jesse Cameron!
I loved him– he made the book great. I loved how he stuck with his beliefs by staying in the Union army when the Civil War broke out. Amanfes didn’t resign and join the Confederacy when Virgi I really enjoyed this one– it’s made it onto my favorites shelf and the hero made it into my Harem of Men: He didn’t resign and join the Confederacy when Virginia seceded. Jesse believed that for their country to survive, the union needed to stay together- so he fought on enemigps side of the Yankees and against his own brother.
Kiernan got on my nerves sometimes. She seemed so childish. She was clearly in love with Jesse and admitted it, but refused to marry him because he was a Yankee. Her hatred of Yankees ran deep with no clear explanation as to why she hated them so much. The only being that heayher invaded her land, took over her house, and killed her husband– but this was after the war started and her hatred began before these events occurred.
I suppose it was implied she hated Yankees for taking away the Southern Plantation life she was used to by the North’s wish to end enemitos.
