The main character was quite comical and had a very different personality than I was expecting. That could have been partly due to the fact that it was written for a much younger audience and some things I am just not interested in that I would have found fascinating when I was a teenager.

It’s a little surprising that a Newberry Honor book like this has some pretty adult themes aren’t Newberries supposed to be juvenile fiction?
