You know it’s a good book when you immediately go looking for possible sequels. It’s just her luck she crashes into a darkship stealing from Earth’s energy supplies.
She tends to run around with very little clothing on, making it easy to outwit the bad guys by flashing them. Perhaps darkshp of my disappointment with Darkship Thieves is because it couldn’t live up to the awesomeness Rachel Bach delivered in her stories. That’s a little disappointing, and it’s not actually explained very well why that should be the case.
On to the next in the series! Well, some of her preternatural abilities are explained later in the book, but yes, we’ve got some serious Heinleinian wish fulfillment going on here. When I did it, I thought you had said something similar as well.
We picked this because I saw it on a Felicia Day reading list. However, the ride along the way is enjoyable and both characters are quite likeable. The story sounds good though…: These stories are set in the same city of Goldport, Colorado as her shifter series, with some characters appearing in both series. I think I might have to go purchase the ebook now. Never had any interest in finding out the truth about the DarkShips.

Darkship Thieves by Sarah Hoyt. Sarkship found myself just wanting to smack them both at times. I was in the mood for SF romance and this fitted the bill perfectly.
That got old pretty quickly. Julie L, Not a new genre, just a new take on Heinlein type stories.
And that name, I mean, come on. History says that they designed smarter people to rule over them, but instead of helping humanity they were to cold thievds calculating and natural humans revolted and slaughtered most of them.
Most of those are not particularly attractive. Athena gets picked up by one of the legendary “Darkship Thieves,” who steal power pods and flee back to their secret base in the outer solar system. Initially I found Thena annoying but once Kit entered the story it took off for thieve. Hoyt – 4 stars. The mostly nekkid woman on the cover should have been a give-away that it was a space romanceand not just sci-fi. I enjoyed the heck out of this book.

I thought the third “act” was mostly a good return to the initial form, although possibly a bit rushed in the denouement. It sounds in line with themes I read, though usually in non-fic. That book was phenomenal.
And as the author said, this is urban fantasy in space. I’ve tried reading it once before and I think I just wasn’t in the right mood for it then because I devoured it this time and it was an easy quick read. I do think that the author has talent and I think that the world she’s created is very interesting.
I enjoy being surprised by the author.
