Since the second half of the twentieth century, the undertaking of a number of hydraulic and hydroelectric projects has contributed to the disruption of the balance of water and sediment flows in river basins, leading to accelerated processes of progradation and regression in deltaic and other coastal landforms.

Moraines have been intensively affected by goldmining works carried out during the Roman times, comprising the presence of a complex hydraulic system with canals and water reservoirs used for the transport and storage of water needed for the roman works. The results provide high-resolution orthomosaic, DEMs and 3D textured models that aim for the documentation of ancient mining scenarios, providing high-resolution digital information that improves the identification, description and interpretation of mining elements such as the hydraulic infrastructure, the presence of open-cast mines which exemplifies the different exploitation methods, and settlements.
